At approximately 10:13 a.m.  Greenville Township Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to
US-150 and State Road 335 on an MVA - Car versus Fuel Tanker Truck - head on. Units
responded to the scene, and after Command 3301 arrived on scene to do an assessment he
called for Lafayette Township Fire Department’s Rescue 1 to respond to the scene - reference
extrication. Lafayette Rescue 1 and Chiefs 1101, 1102, 1103 responded to assist Greenville.
Lafayette units arrived on scene and saw there was going to be an extensive extrication.
Lafayette’s Crew of 7 split up, and was assisted by Greenville’s Crew and performed several
extrication techniques at once. They used airbags to lift the fuel truck off of the vehicle enough
to perform a partial dash lift, and floorboard crush down on the driver’s side of the vehicle. By
raising the fuel truck they were also able to get a complete dash lift on the passenger side of the
vehicle and then tunneled over to the driver’s side compartment to free the victim, who was
transported via Statcare Air Ambulance. Units mitigated a small HazMat and Lafayette Rescue 1
was released. Greenville Units remained on-scene until both vehicles were removed and the
reconstruction team was complete.
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SWIFTWATER CLASS
A total of 27 students representing Bardstown, Bowling Green, Custer,
Elizabethtown, Layfette (IN), and North Oldham Departments took part in this
years class.

Two-days of swiftwater instruction was provided by Area-14 and Area-6, which
gave the students the necessary knowledge and skills to handle most swiftwater
incidents. In-water skills ranged from shore-based rescue to in-water and boat
based rescues. A good and eductional time had by all!

Comments about the class; "I learned a lot of important information from this class.
This was the first time being in the water. I would recommend this class to
anyone", "The instructors were very informative and approachable, Overall, it was
a very good class and a lot was learned", "Very good class! very intense and
knowledgable".

A special thanks goes out to the Army Corps of Engineers for providing the water
for our class. Without them we would not be able to conduct this program.
