| April 24, 2007 At approximately 9:30 a.m. Units received a call to assist New Chapel Fire Department on an unknown fire alarm sounding at the Prosser School of Technology on Charlestown Road in New Albany. Engine 11 and Command 1 responded. Units arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the eaves of the school, being caused by a car on fire in the auto body class shop. Chief 1101, Chief 1102 and the crew from Engine 11 made entry along with two firefighters from New Chapel and extinguished the fire.( Local media and officials from the New Albany – Floyd County School System reported that the fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system inside of the building . The fire was extinguished by the firefighters after arriving on scene. There are NO SPRINKLERS in the auto body shop. ) Lafayette firefighters then assisted with ventilation, along with checking for additional fire spread. Units cleared the scene with fire and water damage being contained to the workshop, and minimal smoke damage throughout the building. Units then later that day made two more calls The first a single vehicle MVA vehicle overturned on US Highway 150 at Old Vincennes where one patient was transported to the hospital and a second call to Buck Creek on a Medical Assist with one patient being transported to the hospital. |
